We are proud to be a club that thrives on support from our local community, and has an exceptional record of sportsmanship, and a true passion for rugby.

TRFC asks all supporters, members, players, and coaches to uphold our Code of Conduct.

What You Can Expect from the Club

We are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive rugby environment for everyone.

Here's what you can expect from TRFC:

  • Clear and up-to-date communication
  • A safe and well-managed environment
  • Respect for players, parents, officials, and volunteers
  • Welcoming and supportive coaches and helpers
  • A focus on enjoyment and development
  • Skill development for coaches and players
  • Enthusiastic and inclusive team spirit
  • Regular fixtures and structured training
  • All-weather training facilities where possible
  • A social club atmosphere – including occasional cheap beer 🍺

 

What the Club Expects from You

TRFC thrives on community involvement and mutual respect. Here's what we ask in return:

  • Commitment to training, matches, and the team
  • Prompt payment of subscriptions and / or match fees
  • Active involvement in club life (helping out when needed)
  • New ideas and constructive suggestions
  • Support with logistics (lift sharing, helping at events, etc.)
  • Good communication – especially player availability
  • Adherence to club codes of conduct and policies
  • Provision of suitable kit and safety gear for your child

 

Membership

TRFC Membership is open to all, subject to compliance with expected behaviour and conduct as outlined in this Code.

We offer a range of membership options:

  • Playing Membership (Senior and Junior)
  • Social Membership (including Family Membership)
  • Vice Presidents – who, in return for an increased subscription, receive:
  • An invitation to the annual Vice Presidents’ & Sponsors’ Buffet Lunch
  • The ability to apply by post for International Match Tickets (this is open to all paid up members)

Safeguarding & Welfare

TRFC fully adopts the RFU Safeguarding Policy to ensure the protection of children, young people, and vulnerable adults.

  • All coaches and volunteers working with children are DBS-checked and trained in safeguarding.
  • We enforce the Two Adult Rule at all times.
  • Safeguarding concerns must be reported to the Club Safeguarding Officer without delay.
  • Abuse, neglect, or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Anti-Bullying

We operate a zero-tolerance policy toward bullying, including:

  • Physical or verbal bullying
  • Exclusion or intimidation
  • Online/cyberbullying
  • Abuse of authority or position

All reported cases will be investigated confidentially and promptly.

 

Managing Challenging Behaviour

We understand that young players may occasionally display challenging behaviour. Our approach:

  • Focuses on positive behaviour management
  • Avoids shaming, shouting, or confrontation
  • Works with parents to support individual needs
  • If you have any concerns, or have witnessed something that does not fit with TRFC Code of Conduct, please raise them with Rowena Sarahs Club Secretary.

Social Media & Communication Policy

  • Coaches must not contact U18 players directly via social media or messaging apps. Communication must go through parents/guardians or approved platforms.
  • No photos/videos of children will be shared without parental consent.
  • Offensive or inappropriate online content related to the club, players, referees, or opposition may result in disciplinary action.
  • Members are expected to protect the club’s reputation and use online platforms responsibly.

Code of Conduct for TRFC Players

  • Play because you want to, not to please others.
  • Fun and skill development are more important than winning.
  • Pay attention during training and coaching.
  • Work hard for yourself and your team.
  • Acknowledge good play by teammates and opponents.
  • Be respectful and gracious – win or lose.
  • Accept referee decisions without complaint.
  • Control your emotions – no swearing or aggression.
  • Treat everyone how you want to be treated.
  • Never bully, tease, or take advantage of other players.
  • Keep changing room facilities clean on match days.

Code of Conduct for TRFC Spectators & Parents

  • Praise effort and teamwork – not just results.
  • Respect referees – they are volunteers.
  • Never shout abuse or criticism at players, officials, or coaches.
  • Don't coach from the sideline – let the coaches do their job.
  • Celebrate good play from all teams.
  • Discourage poor language or aggressive behaviour.
  • Support every child, regardless of ability.
  • Children play rugby for their own enjoyment, not yours.
  • Remember – it’s only a game.

Code of Conduct for TRFC Coaches & Match Officials

  • Prioritise fun, enjoyment, and safety for all players.
  • Understand and meet the needs of each player before the needs of the game.
  • Be consistent, fair, and objective.
  • Encourage respect for the spirit of rugby.
  • Explain decisions – all players (young and old!) are learning.
  • Penalise foul play.
  • Ensure abusive behaviour from spectators or players is dealt with by club officials.
  • Be familiar with and uphold the RFU Child Protection Guidelines.

Breaches & Disciplinary Process

Breaches of this Code may lead to:

  • Verbal or written warnings
  • Temporary suspension from club activities
  • Formal investigation by the Club Discipline Committee
  • Referral to the RFU Safeguarding Team or relevant authorities

All cases will be handled confidentially and fairly, with player welfare as a priority.
